1. V&R Energy has been awarded a contract to supply our PMU-based voltage stability analysis software, ROSE, to WECC under the Western Interconnection Synchrophasor Program (WISP).

3. We attended NASPI Work Group Meeting on October 12-13, 2011 at Burlingame, California.

4. We participated at the Technology Showcase during ISO Stakeholder Symposium at Sacramento Convention Center on September 7 - 8, 2011.

7. POM User Group meeting and training was held on April 11 – 14, 2011 in Los Angeles, CA.

8. Potential Cascading Mode (PCM) application of the POM Suite is now available for licensing. PCM is the first application of its kind that is specifically intended to assess system performance following the extreme events, and automate the process of predicting and preventing cascading outages. PCM is an add-on module, which is fully integrated into POM Suite, PCM, when used with OPM, identifies the mitigation measures needed to prevent cascading and mitigate the consequences of the cascades. 9. Global preventive actions are incorporated into Optimal Mitigation Measures (OPM). Identification of the global preventive measures may be used as a stand-alone capability or as part of the automated N-1-1 AC contingency analysis. For licensing information, please contact us.

2010

1. On December 9th and 10th we participated in NYISO 2010 Smart Grid Vendor Forum in Albany, NY and presented the ROSE application and its capability to calculate and visualize power system stability margin based on PMU measurements. 2. We presented the ROSE application at MISO 2010 Smart Grid Vendor Workshop on November 9th and 10th in Carmel, IN.

3. POM Suite ver. 2011 b. 5 is available for download. Some of the new features include: batch mode operation, working with Map and improved power compensation options. For the download instructions, please contact V&R Support.

4. On October 4-6, 2010 we have participated in 2010 IEEE SmartGridComm, Gaithersburg, MD and presented a paper on V&R Energy's smart grid solution, Region Of Stability Existence (ROSE):

5. On July 26th and 27th, 2010 we participated in the 2010 PES General Meeting in Minneapolis, MN where we have hosted a Hospitality Suite.

We have demonstrated the POM Suite, version 2011 and its applications for:

  • Utilizing PMU data to predict system instability and generate alarms
  • Improving the transmission grid reliability to facilitate integration of the renewable energy
  • Quick prediction of cascading outages
  • N-1-1, N-2 and above automatic AC contingency analysis and visualization
  • Fast dynamic security analysis
  • Performing corrective actions to mitigate exceeding operating limits

6. On-site hands-on training on POM Suite ver.2011 was held at LIPA on July 14 - 15, 2010. Con Edison, LIPA and NYPA attended.

8. Fast Fault Screening tool was presented during New York State Energy Research & Development Authority / New York Independent System Operator / EPRI Joint Project Workshop on May 25, 2010.

9. On-site hands-on training on POM-Transient Stability with Fast Fault Screening was held at NY ISO, Rensselaer, NY on May 26 - 27, 2010.

10. On April 19th through 22nd, 2010 we participated in 2010 IEEE PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition Ernest Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, LA.

11. POM User-Group Meeting and Training was held on March 29th through April 1st, 2010 in Santa Monica, CA.

12. On February 24-25, 2010 we participated in the NASPI Work Group Meeting in Austin, TX, which focused on ARRA Smart Grid Investment Grant and Smart Grid Demonstration Grants. 2009

1. On July 16th, 2009 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary, Steven Chu, has announced the selection of 28 new wind energy projects. V&R is one of the companies receiving funding.

V&R, in cooperation, was awarded a DOE project "Improving Reliability of Transmission Grid to Facilitate Integration of Wind Energy in Tri-State G&T and AECI". The analyses under the awarded project will be performed using POM Suite of Applications Please click here to view the project scope.

2. On October 7th and 8th, 2009 we participated in the NASPI Work Group Meeting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which was focused on vendors presenting and demonstrating their hardware and software synchrophasor technology.

3. On July 26th through 29th, 2009 we participated in the 2009 PES General Meeting in Calgary, Canada.

V&R hosted a hospitality suite at the Calgary Hyatt Regency Hotel.

We have demonstrated POM Suite, version 5 and its applications for:

  • Use of PMU measurements to predict voltage collapse
  • Quick prediction of cascading outages
  • N-1-1, N-2 and above automatic AC contingency analysis and visualization
  • Fast fault screening for three-phase and unbalanced faults
  • Dynamic security region
  • Fast and accurate prediction of operating limits
  • Performing corrective actions to mitigate the exceeding operating limits

4. POM Suite version 5 was released in August of 2009.

This version is approximately three times faster than the previous version. The program is designed such that it automates NERC-compliance studies. It also addresses the upcoming NERC TPL standards to assess system performance following Planning Events and Extreme Events.
