V&R Energy empowers the electric utilities to succeed in today's competitive environment by enabling them to effectively and accurately assess the power grid conditions and take timely control actions in order to prevent the occurrences of major catastrophic events.

Our power system analysis and optimization solutions are based on the Physical and Operational Margins (POM) Suite of applications, which is a comprehensive power systems software package that consists of load flow, voltage stability, transient stability, massive contingency analysis, transmission and distribution system optimization, power transfer analysis tools for the Real-Time, Operations and Planning environments.

Some of the software capabilities are:

Extremely fast
  • Applies 50,000 contingencies per hour, or under 0.1 sec per contingency for a 50,000-bus case during AC contingency analysis;
  • Alleviates thermal, voltage and voltage stability violations during massive AC contingency analysis in approximately 10 sec for one contingency for a 50,000-bus case.
  • Performs a one second time-domain simulation in approx. 6 seconds for a 50,000-bus case and 17000 dynamic models
  • Handling very large contingency lists - millions of contingencies per run during AC contingency analysis
  • Fast and accurate computation of operating limits and visualization, and performing corrective actions to mitigate the exceeding operating limits
  • Predicting cascading outages
  • Automatic N-1-1 contingency analysis to meet upcoming NERC standards
  • Providing a boundary-based solution
  • Performing Fast Fault Screening to enable comprehensive transient stability analysis
