V&R, in cooperation with NRECA CRN, Tri-State G&T and AECI, was awarded a DOE project "Improving Reliability of Transmission Grid to Facilitate Integration of Wind Energy in Tri-State G&T and AECI". The analyses under the awarded project will be performed using POM Suite of Applications. POM Suite version 5 is approximately three times faster than the current version. It is scheduled to be released in QIII of 2009. On July 27th through 28th, 2009 we participated in the 2009 PES General Meeting in Calgary, Canada. V&R was awarded a CEATI project "Prediction of Power System Instability Based on PMU: Utilizing the ROSE (Region of Stability Existence) Approach." ISO New England is the host utility. V&R Energy, jointly with EPRI, was awarded a NYSERDA project "Fast Fault Screening for Real-Time Transient Stability Assessment". We'll continue to work on Phase II of the project "Predict Cascading Outages" in 2009. Phase I project participants included: AEP, ConEd, Entergy, EPRI, Exelon, FirstEnergy, ISO NE, NYPA and Tri-State G&T. "CIM Compatibility for POM" will also continue in 2009.
